Miki Huber, BA, MA
Academic Language Therapist
Miki Huber is the reading specialist at the Los Angeles Center. She completed her certification as an Academic Language Therapist through Teachers College at Columbia University in New York and holds a Masters in Psychology and Language Processes from Skidmore College, Saratoga Springs, New York. She is also an active member of the Association of Educational Therapists.
In addition to her work at the Scottish Rite Childhood Language Center, Miki has maintained a private practice for over 12 years and developed the Creative Learning Therapy program, drawing on her background in music, theater, and art to help children tap into the creative aspects of language and communication.
Prior to private practice, Miki worked as a clinician and assistant personnel trainer at Lindamood-Bell Learning Processes. Miki provides invaluable expertise in reading and writing disorders which allows the staff at the center to provide a level of comprehensive diagnosis and treatment unmatched by most practitioners.
Susan Miller, BA, MA
Speech and Language Pathologist
Susan Miller is a licensed speech and language pathologist. She holds a Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and a credential from the California Department of Education for Clinical Rehabilitation in the areas of speech, language, and hearing.
Susan received her clinical training at Western Washington University. Her graduate research focused on cultural and language differences, and how these differences affect assessment and treatment of communication disorders.
She has worked in many different settings, including migrant farm workers’ camps, Head Start classrooms, pediatric hospital wards, schools, and private practice. Susan has a deep respect and appreciation for the uniqueness of each child. She says, “I love my work at Los Angeles Scottish Rite Childhood Language Center. There is a commitment here to deliver family-centered, state-of-the-art therapeutic services, and I am excited to be a part of it.”
